VPlaying in their first CCCAA state playoff game in program history on Saturday afternoon, the Falcons' season came to an unexpected early end as they lost an excruciatingly close match to Big 8 Conference rival Santa Rosa, 1-0, at Falcon Stadium. The two teams had split their regular-season series – with both teams winning at home – before Saturday's playoff battle. The Falcons opened the match with crisp passing and maintained possession throughout a majority of the playing time, but could never find the back of the net. After a scoreless first half, the Bear Cubs shocked the home team with a goal off a corner kick in the 56th minute. With more than 30 minutes still to play, the Falcons had plenty of time to get an equalizer, but the Bear Cubs were playing their toughest defense of the match. The final five minutes were played at a frenetic pace as the Falcons sent a barrage of long shots, corner kicks, and headers at the goal, but the Bear Cub goalkeeper fought them all off. It was a disappointing end to an outstanding season for the Falcons; with a final record of 13-4-5, two of the Falcons' four losses were to Santa Rosa.
