With their victory in Santa Rosa on Wednesday night, the FLC women's volleyball team avoided their recent trend of stumbling through the opening set (or two), this time winning in straight sets, 25-16, 25-21, and 31-29. The win allows the Falcons to maintain a glimmer of hope for capturing a share of the Big 8 title, but they'll need some help. With both Delta and Sierra one game ahead, the Falcons must first defeat Delta on Friday night in Stockton, something they couldn't do a month ago at FLC. Then they'll need the Mustangs to win at Sierra in their season finale next Tuesday while the Falcons do the same at American River. A lot of ifs, but that scenario would mean a Big 8 co-championship for FLC and Sierra. Meanwhile, the Falcons improved their Big 8 record to 12-2 and their overall record to a gaudy 21-3, which should equate to a high seed for the CCCAA state playoffs which begin Tuesday November 21.
