Folsom Lake College Beach Volleyball Shines in Victory Over Sacramento City

 The Folsom Lake College beach volleyball team showcased their resilience and talent on Friday, securing a hard-fought 3-2 victory over Sacramento City College before facing a tough loss to Sierra College. Despite the split results, the Falcons demonstrated skill and determination throughout the day.

Match 1: FLC Edges Out Sacramento City in Thrilling Contest

The Falcons started strong against Sacramento City, earning a 3-2 victory fueled by key wins from their top three pairs.

  • 1s: McKechnie and Jones set the tone early with a clutch 21-17, 22-20 win over SCC's Ladouceur and Vilingia. Their chemistry and precision passing helped them close out both sets in a tight battle.

  • 2s: Moore and Quintanar displayed incredible resilience, bouncing back from a first-set loss to defeat Mayer and Lopez 16-21, 21-18, 15-7. Their ability to adjust mid-match was pivotal in securing this victory.

  • 3s: Boldyreva and Ayers put together a commanding performance, overpowering Ramirez and Peterson in a straight-set win.

Although Folsom Lake forfeited the 4s and 5s matches, their three strong wins sealed the match victory, proving their depth and determination.

Match 2: Tough Battle Against Sierra College

Following their triumph, FLC faced a formidable Sierra College squad, ultimately falling 5-0. However, the Falcons showed fight, pushing multiple matches to three sets.

  • 1s: McKechnie and Jones fought valiantly, winning the first set against Black and Skinner 22-20 before Sierra stormed back to take the match 21-9, 15-10.

  • 3s: Ayers and Boldyreva displayed grit, battling Guerrero and Stumbo to three sets before falling 21-17, 17-21, 15-8.

Despite the overall loss, the Falcons demonstrated their potential, pushing one of the toughest teams in the conference to the limit in multiple matches.

Looking Ahead

Folsom Lake College continues to build on their strengths, proving they can compete at a high level. With their ability to bounce back and fight through tough sets, the Falcons are poised to make a strong push in upcoming matches.

"We saw a lot of positive moments today," said Head Coach Molly Hanrahan. "The energy and effort from our players were outstanding, and we'll continue to refine our game as the season progresses."

With plenty of matches ahead, the Falcons will look to capitalize on their momentum and keep improving as they strive for more victories on the sand.
