Baseball’s Season Comes to an end in Saratoga
Saratoga – Folsom Lake soared into the 3C2A NorCal Baseball Super Regional after a dominant performance against Solano College in the opening round of the NorCal Baseball Regional. Their journey brought them to Saratoga, where they faced off against the Los Medanos College Mustangs, seeded sixth, and the West Valley College Vikings, seeded third, in a fiercely contested three-team, double-elimination Super Regional.
Game 1: Folsom Lake College vs Los Medanos College
Starting as the tenth seed, the Falcons ignited the West Valley Super Regional with an impressive victory over Los Medanos on Thursday. Demonstrating their offensive prowess, key hits from players like Michael Ryan, Max Debiec, and Nate Vargas highlighted their performance. Stellar pitching from Andy Uharriet and Carter Henninger secured a decisive 6-1 win.
After Los Medanos fell to West Valley College, they were eliminated from the super-regional, setting the stage for a best-of-three showdown between West Valley College and Folsom Lake College.
Game 2: Folsom Lake College vs West Valley College
In the first clash between the Vikings and the Falcons, FLC outmatched their opponents, fueled by standout performances from Darryl Dilworth, Tyler Allen, and Ryan Oakes on the mound. Their resilience paid off with a hard-fought 5-4 victory, bringing them closer to the NorCal Finals.
Game 3: Folsom Lake College vs West Valley College
The Vikings retaliated in the second game of the series, narrowly defeating the Falcons in a tense contest (5-4). With the series tied, all eyes turned to the winner-takes-all final game.
Game 4: Folsom Lake College vs West Valley College
In a gripping battle on Saturday afternoon, both teams left it all on the field. The Falcons showcased their offensive prowess, led by Dilworth, Debiec, and Allen, scoring an impressive 17 runs. However, the Vikings matched their intensity, ultimately securing a dramatic 18-17 victory.
Despite their tremendous efforts, the Falcons fell short of advancing to the NorCal Finals, marking the end of their postseason journey.
