Falcons Take Series from American River with Big Bats and Clutch Road Wins
The Folsom Lake College Falcons delivered a statement performance this week, sweeping all three games of their series against American River behind timely hitting, strong pitching, and depth throughout the lineup.
The Falcons opened the series on March 31 with a 4-2 road win at Beaver Field. Folsom Lake jumped out early and never looked back, building a four-run lead behind RBIs from John Handy, Connor Barth, George Shykowski, and Jace Bystrowski. Dylan Green scored twice, while Trajan Rogowski set the tone at the top of the lineup with a multi-hit performance.
On the mound, Keisen Hayden was sharp through six innings, allowing just two runs while striking out six to earn the win. Andrew Balentine closed it out with three scoreless innings to secure the save and seal the opening victory.
Folsom Lake carried that momentum into April 2 at home, where the offense erupted in a 13-5 win. The Falcons racked up 17 hits in one of their most complete performances of the season.
John Handy led the charge with three RBIs, including a bases-clearing triple that broke the game open early. Connor Barth added three RBIs of his own, while Dylan Green crossed the plate three times and contributed an RBI. Lucca Peterson collected three hits and drove in a run, while Asa Martinez added two hits and two RBIs. Grant Munoz and Cyrus Young also delivered multi-hit efforts, keeping constant pressure on American River pitching.
On the mound, Jake McKowen earned the win with six solid innings, and the bullpen—Roland "Noah" Madsen, Shane Saunders, and Colin Huston—combined to finish the job.
The Falcons completed the sweep on April 3 with a 10-6 road win, pulling away late after a competitive start. Folsom Lake broke the game open with a five-run stretch across the sixth and seventh innings, followed by two more runs in the eighth.
Connor Barth and Asa Martinez each drove in two runs, while Cyrus Young paced the offense with three hits, including a double and an RBI. Jace Bystrowski reached base four times, scored twice, and added two stolen bases. John Handy contributed two hits and two runs, while Trajan Rogowski and George Shykowski added key RBIs to round out the offensive attack.
On the mound, Gavin McLendon earned the win with 4.1 innings of work, Roland "Noah" Madsen provided 2.2 scoreless innings in relief, and Aj Cox closed out the final two innings.
