Bio
Continuing a growing and promising collegiate coaching career, Michael Gerlach joins the FLC College staff as hitting and outfield coach, bringing with him a unique perspective shaped by learning from some of Northern California's most respected coaches. In 2024 Mike had the same duties at Delta College and also served as the Head Coach for the Stockton Pearl of the West Coast Collegiate League.
His baseball coaching journey began at his alma mater, Carmel High School, where he served as assistant coach from 2020-2024, giving back to the program where he first made his mark as a player in the class of 2009. Gerlach's path through collegiate baseball exemplifies the transformative power of junior college athletics.
As a player at Cabrillo College (2010-2011), he developed under the tutelage of current Folsom LAke College Head Coach Bob Kittle, creating a foundation for success that would earn him a scholarship to San Jose State University. There, he had the privilege of playing for two distinguished coaches – the legendary Sam Piraro in 2012 and Dave Nakama in 2013 – while completing his BA in Sociology. This blend of playing experience at multiple levels and his connection to Coach Kittle's proven system makes Gerlach an ideal addition to the Falcons' coaching staff. His firsth and understanding of the junior college pathway and what it takes to advance to the next level positions him perfectly to mentor Folsom Lake's current generation of student-athletes
