The Falcon men closed out their non-conference schedule with a home game under the lights on Friday night against West Valley College and ended their recent 3-match streak of ties with a 1-0 victory over the Vikings. The visitors started out strong and defended well, preventing the Falcons from advancing with much success. The two teams were clearly evenly matched and the halftime score of 0-0 reflected it. But in the first two minutes of the second half, the Falcons found an opening and took advantage, with sophomore Ethan Viers putting the finishing touch on a wild sequence in front of the Vikings' goal for a 1-0 Falcon lead. There would be no more scoring in the match, but plenty of action as both teams nearly found the net on several occasions.
The Falcons will take their 5-0-3 record to Stockton on Friday, where they'll open Big 8 Conference play against the defending co-champion Delta Mustangs (6-1).
