Folsom Lake College Softball Explodes for 32 Runs in Doubleheader Sweep of Yuba College

The Falcons' bats were loud, relentless, and nearly unstoppable Saturday afternoon.

Behind a barrage of extra-base hits, patient at-bats, and dominant pitching, Folsom Lake erupted for 32 total runs in a convincing doubleheader sweep at Yuba, taking Game 1 in a 22–6 run-rule rout and closing the day with a 10–2 victory. The two wins continue an impressive early-season surge and showcased the depth and firepower throughout the Falcons lineup.

Game 1 – Falcons 22, Yuba 6

If there were any doubts about the Falcons' offensive capabilities, they were erased almost immediately.

Folsom Lake plated seven runs in the first inning and never looked back. The lineup kept the pressure on with runs in every frame but one, exploding again for seven in the fourth and five more in the fifth to seal the mercy-rule win.

Nearly every Falcon reached base and contributed.

Melanie Stephens delivered one of the biggest performances of the day, going 4-for-4 with two doubles, five runs scored, and three RBIs.
Mariah Aguiling was a catalyst at the top of the order, finishing 3-for-3 with five RBIs and three runs, while also swiping a base.
Brooklyn Denina added a triple and three RBIs, and Haylie Alkire chipped in two RBIs of her own.

Inside the circle, Kiley Shea was dominant early, striking out nine over 4.1 shutout innings and allowing just three hits to keep Yuba quiet until the game was well in hand.

Game 2 – Falcons 10, Yuba 2

The nightcap followed a similar script — strong pitching and timely hitting.

After a quiet first inning, the Falcons broke through with three runs in the second, four in the third, and three more in the fourth, steadily pulling away.

Haylie Alkire stole the show offensively, going 3-for-3 with a double, a triple, and five RBIs, accounting for half the team's production.
Mariah Aguiling continued her big day with two hits and three runs, including a triple.
Caton Strieff and Kaleigh Frazer added key RBIs to keep innings alive.

In the circle, Sarah Habkirk tossed a complete-game gem, allowing just two runs on six hits while striking out seven to secure the sweep.

By the Numbers

  • 32 total runs

  • 20 hits

  • 27 RBIs

  • 15 walks

  • 17 strikeouts from Falcons pitchers

  • 0 defensive errors across both games

Falcons Take Flight

What stood out most wasn't just the scoring — it was the balance. Power, speed, patience at the plate, and lockdown defense combined to produce one of the Falcons' most complete days of the season.

When multiple hitters are driving gaps, working counts, and passing the baton like this, Folsom Lake becomes extremely difficult to contain.

If Saturday's performance is any indication, the Falcons' offense is heating up at exactly the right time — and opponents across the schedule have been put on notice.

Folsom Lake didn't just win two games — they made a statement.
