Falcons Deliver Big Wins During Festive Easter Weekend

The Folsom Lake College softball team put together an impressive stretch of play, going 3-0 across the week with a dominant road win followed by a home doubleheader sweep over Sacramento City on April 4—highlighted by a festive Youth Jersey Day during Easter weekend.

The Falcons opened the week on March 31 with a commanding 9-1 victory over Diablo Valley. Folsom Lake wasted no time setting the tone, scoring in every inning and erupting for four runs in the fifth to seal the win.

Brooklyn Denina led the offensive charge with a huge day at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two home runs, a double, and three RBIs. Shelbie Smith added a strong performance with two hits and two runs scored, while Sophia Nielsen and Sarah Habkirk each contributed key extra-base hits. On the basepaths, the Falcons stayed aggressive, with Joey Jacobs and Mariah Aguiling combining for three stolen bases.

In the circle, Kiley Shea was dominant, tossing four shutout innings and striking out eight while allowing just two hits. Annalee Aguilar closed out the game as the Falcons secured a decisive road win.

Folsom Lake carried that momentum into Saturday's home doubleheader against Sacramento City, where they delivered two gritty conference wins in front of a lively Youth Jersey Day crowd.

In game one, the Falcons edged Sacramento City 2-1 in a tightly contested battle. Joey Jacobs sparked the offense with a double and a run scored, while Brooklyn Denina and Melanie Stephens each drove in a run. Kiley Shea was once again outstanding in the circle, pitching a complete game and allowing just one run on four hits to earn the win.

The Falcons completed the sweep with a 5-1 victory in game two, jumping out to an early 3-0 lead in the first inning. Mariah Aguiling came through with a clutch two-RBI single, while Denina and Marianna Prieto also added RBIs to keep the pressure on.

Sarah Habkirk delivered a stellar performance in the circle, going the distance while striking out 10 and allowing just one run. The Falcons' defense remained solid behind her, playing error-free softball to secure the win.

Across all three games, Folsom Lake showcased a balanced attack—timely hitting, aggressive baserunning, and dominant pitching—proving to be a tough matchup as the season continues.

With the energy of Youth Jersey Day and a strong showing over Easter weekend, the Falcons continue to build momentum at the right time, setting the stage for a strong push through conference play.
