The Falcons got off the bus ready to play on Friday afternoon, then rolled to a convincing 6-1 win over the Pirates at Modesto JC. The visitors controlled possession from the early moments of the match while creating numerous scoring chances. But it wasn't until freshman Michaela Clark and sophomore Sarah Freed scored nearly back-to-back goals at the midway point of the first half that the Falcons took control of the scoreboard. With a 2-0 lead at halftime, the Falcons broke it open with two quick goals early in the second half – one by Emily Doty and another by Freed – and never looked back. Freed's second goal tied her for the team lead with Clark at 8 for the season. Freshmen Caroline Guthrie and Danielle Powell – her first as a Falcon - added second half goals to complete the scoring binge. With Kalyn Amezcua, Maddie Wright, Dani Powell, Hailey Green, and Payton Zanatta all chipping in as major contributors off the bench in the second half, the Falcons were never threatened.
The Falcons will host Diablo Valley on Tuesday night at 6:00 pm, then won't be back at Falcon Stadium until October 15.
