Deome’s Late Heroics Lift Falcons Past Fresno City, 1-0
In a hard-fought road battle, the Folsom Lake College women's soccer team showed grit, patience, and poise, earning a 1-0 victory over Fresno City College on Saturday night. The win keeps the Falcons undefeated at 5-0 on the season.
The Game-Winner
With the match scoreless deep into the second half, the Falcons found their breakthrough in dramatic fashion. In the 82nd minute, Rachael George slipped a perfectly timed pass through the Fresno back line, where Kylie Deome calmly finished with precision. The late strike proved decisive, handing the Falcons a valuable victory against one of the toughest opponents they've faced this season.
Deome has now netted four goals and two assists in the early campaign, continuing her role as one of FLC's most dangerous attacking threats. George, steady and creative in midfield, has contributed three assists to pace the Falcons' playmaking.
Defensive Brilliance
While the attack sealed the win, the Falcons' defense laid the foundation. Goalkeeper Lola Ballard was rock-solid between the posts, collecting her third shutout of the season with confident saves and sharp positioning.
Anchoring the back line, Kiyomi Tauataina played all 90 minutes, commanding the defense and keeping Fresno's chances to a minimum. Alongside her, Josie Reynolds delivered a standout defensive performance, disrupting attacks and winning key challenges throughout the match.
Staying Perfect
Folsom Lake's ability to grind out results has defined their perfect start. On the road, against a seasoned Fresno squad, the Falcons proved they could handle pressure and find the decisive moment when it mattered most.
