Folsom Lake Shuts Out Santa Rosa, Punches Ticket to State Final Four
On a crisp Saturday afternoon in Folsom, the Folsom Lake College women's soccer team delivered a composed, commanding performance to defeat Santa Rosa 2–0 and secure their place in the 3C2A State Final Four. With the win, the Falcons advance to Saddleback College, where they will face Golden West College on December 5th.
The Falcons wasted little time asserting themselves, finding their rhythm early and controlling the pace of play. Their breakthrough came in the 20th minute when Kiana Arbis capitalized on a well-placed setup from Madi Stroh, slotting home the opening goal to give Folsom Lake a 1–0 advantage.
The defensive unit, anchored by goalkeeper Hailey Yates, was sharp and disciplined throughout the match. Yates recorded two saves and never looked unsettled, helping Folsom Lake maintain its first-half lead with ease. Santa Rosa, meanwhile, struggled to generate any offensive pressure, finishing the match without a single shot.
In the 70th minute, the Falcons struck again. This time it was Kylie Deome, who buried a clinical finish after another precise assist from Stroh—her second of the afternoon. The 2–0 lead proved insurmountable for Santa Rosa, whose offense remained stifled by Folsom Lake's compact midfield and back line.
With many fans in attendance at Falcon Stadium, Folsom Lake showed poise, depth, and execution at exactly the right time. The clean sheet marks another strong defensive showing for a team that has steadily built momentum through the postseason.
The Falcons now shift their focus to the state semifinals at Saddleback College, where they'll take on Golden West College on December 5th. A win there would send them to the state championship match—an opportunity well within reach for a squad firing on all cylinders.
Folsom Lake's journey continues, and if Saturday's performance is any indication, they are peaking at the perfect moment.
