Falcons Hold Off De Anza in Thrilling 79–78 Home Victory
The Folsom Lake College men's basketball team delivered a much-needed home win Friday night, edging De Anza College 79–78 in a back-and-forth battle that kept Falcon Gymnasium buzzing until the final horn.
Folsom Lake came out strong early, building a 41–37 halftime lead, but the second half turned into a possession-by-possession fight. De Anza answered every run, trimming the lead late and setting up a tense final minute as both teams traded stops and key baskets. When it mattered most, the Falcons did just enough to protect their home floor.
Dylan Sayer was the catalyst all night, putting together a standout performance with 27 points and 10 rebounds, shooting an efficient 10-of-13 from the field. Sayer's presence inside anchored the Falcons offensively and provided crucial stability during De Anza's late push.
The Falcons also received timely contributions throughout the lineup. Davell Brown came off the bench to score 13 points, giving Folsom Lake a spark when momentum swung. Jordan Sayer added 11 points, while Jalen Newhouse chipped in seven points and five rebounds, providing energy and composure in critical stretches.
Defensively, Folsom Lake created key opportunities with 11 steals and forced turnovers that helped slow De Anza's rhythm. At the free-throw line, the Falcons converted 17 of 23 attempts, a difference-maker in a one-point game.
In a contest defined by grit, execution, and heart, the Falcons found a way to finish. Friday's result marked a rewarding night at home—one that showcased resilience and gave Folsom Lake momentum heading into the next stretch of the season.
