Falcons Battle, but Fall to Cosumnes River, 74–64

The Folsom Lake men's basketball team put together a strong second-half effort but was unable to overcome an early deficit, falling 74–64 to Cosumnes River on January 2 at Falcon Gymnasium.

Cosumnes River, entering the game with a 13–2 overall record and unbeaten 3–0 mark in conference play, took control early behind a high-energy first half. The Hawks built a 41–31 advantage at the break, capitalizing on second-chance opportunities and trips to the free-throw line. Folsom Lake matched Cosumnes River point-for-point in the second half, with both teams scoring 33, but the early gap proved too much to erase.

Dylan Sayer led all scorers for Folsom Lake with 21 points and a game-high 14 rebounds, recording a double-double while anchoring the interior. Moses Oginni added 15 points on an efficient 5-of-8 shooting and went a perfect 5-for-5 from the free-throw line. Mikey Simonyan provided a spark off the bench with 12 points and five assists, while Ahmad Lloyd chipped in six points and two steals.

Folsom Lake showed resilience after halftime but struggled from beyond the arc, finishing 2-for-13 from three-point range. Despite the loss, the Falcons' second-half response and strong individual performances provided positives as they continue conference play.
