Unstoppable Falcons: Folsom Lake’s Balance of Attack and Defense Fuels Another Perfect Week
The Folsom Lake College women's soccer team continued its dominant run this week, securing two hard-fought victories to remain undefeated on the season. The Falcons edged Sacramento City 1–0 at home on October 14, then went on the road to defeat Santa Rosa 2–1 on October 17. Both matches showcased Folsom Lake's composure, teamwork, and strong defensive discipline.
Falcons Grind Out a 1–0 Win Over Sacramento City
It was a battle from start to finish when Sacramento City visited Folsom Lake. The match featured intense midfield play, solid goalkeeping, and limited scoring chances for either side.
The game's lone goal came in the 12th minute when midfielder Madi Stroh struck from just inside the box, putting the Falcons up 1–0. Stroh's goal—her second of the season—proved to be the difference as Folsom Lake's defense shut down every Sacramento City attack.
Goalkeeper Bitsy Wagner anchored the backline with two key saves to preserve the clean sheet, while Rachael George and Maryn Rogers controlled the midfield pace. Rogers' yellow card late in the second half did little to disrupt her impact, as she remained a steady presence on both ends.
The Falcons outshot the Panthers 5–2, showing patience and tactical balance as they protected their early lead through the final whistle.
Road Victory at Santa Rosa Keeps Falcons' Streak Alive
Three days later, the Falcons took their momentum on the road, earning a gritty 2–1 win over Santa Rosa in another tight contest.
Folsom Lake got on the board first in the 40th minute when Lucy Miller finished a perfect pass from Maryn Rogers to give the Falcons a 1–0 halftime advantage. In the second half, Mia Degrazio doubled the lead in the 60th minute with an unassisted strike, capitalizing on a defensive miscue by Santa Rosa.
Santa Rosa responded with a penalty kick goal in the 70th minute, but goalkeeper Lola Ballard and the Folsom defense held firm to close out the match. Ballard, in her first full match of the season, showed confidence and composure between the posts.
The Falcons' back line—anchored by Kiyomi Tauataina, Elianna Enriquez, and Kamryn Lee—limited Santa Rosa's scoring chances, continuing a season-long trend of disciplined, organized defense.
Still Unbeaten and Looking Ahead
With the pair of wins, Folsom Lake improves to 14–0 overall and 4–0 in conference play, continuing to prove why they're one of the toughest teams to beat in the state. Their depth, poise, and defensive reliability have been key to their undefeated run.
Head Coach Donny Ribaudo praised the team's focus and consistency, noting that "these were the kind of matches that test your character and resilience. We found ways to win"
